SEPTEMBER IS HERE!
That means another meeting for DMALA in Hollywood. This month, the third Tuesday of the month falls on September 20!
SEPTEMBER 20
Business Future: Where are you headed?
Panelists Brian Boyle, Janine Warner and Sean Teegarden / / 3 Professionals give their opinions on future-proofing the animation, photoshop and design work that they do with Adobe tools. Where is your business heading? Where will you find your clients or employers?

DAVID SHOREY
Back in 1995, David Shorey was animating those spots appearing to be sucked off the Dalmatian by the vacuum cleaner in a Bissell commercial. Since that time, he has worked on Disney movie trailers, a number of movies including Quantum of Solace and Bobby, and in the exciting and challenging new field of 3D conversion with The Last Airbender, The Green Hornet and Jackass 3D. He is currently doing work on a television show, Supah Ninjas for Nickelodeon, at The Institution POST.

David is a member of the Visual Effects Society. His background includes degrees from Colorado Institute of Art in Denver and the University of Advanced Technology in Phoenix.
In addition to working in the field, he has also taught animation classes at various schools including the Art Institute of Phoenix and Montecito Fine Arts School in Arcadia, California.
David will talk about a recent project in which he used MochaPro and After Effects to create new plates, beauty work, some advanced After Effects project deconstruction and give us some new ways to think about implementing Mocha in your After Effects workflow.
(You did know that you already have MochaAE bundled with your After Effects software, right?)
Demo Reels. Again? (Time Permitting)
We've had people get hired for jobs at almost every demo reel night. Make sure your reel is under 3 minutes long maximum. We'd like it on a playable DVD. Some of the best reels are an awesome barrage of animation in 1 minute. Don't worry if you only have a few clips to show. Remember - this should represent your latest & greatest.
See you there. Fill up that FB poll so we can get some food at this upcoming meeting!
You've responded to the group's Facebook poll and it seems like you'd like to see an artist present a specific project. It's a good thing, because we have one planned for September. More details to come.
If we get 150 unique votes on the FB polls, then we'll have more free pizza in September as well.
Did you know you can add/approve your friends for the FB Group?

APPLE EVENTS!
There are plenty of Apple Events around town, showing what you can do on your Mac. But DMALA is the best place to find out how to use your Apple hardware/software for your visual art and talk to other Mac artists.

Digital Media Artists \ Los Angeles
Digital Media Artists / Los Angeles (DMA/LA) is an association for professionals creating imagery for video, film, and other media using desktop tools. MGLA was formed in August 1997 through the merger of several previously-existing groups. DMA/LA is an extention of that - continuing in 2008. DMA/LA's area of discussions are not restricted to a specific hardware or software solution, understanding that an artist often has to employ 2D, 3D, and other digital tools to realize their vision - and that artistic inspiration can be universal.
